COVID-19 Update 4

Return to Play

G'day Roos,

With stage two of Alberta's reopening plan coming into effect, we are extremely excited at the prospect of returning to play in the near future. After studying the outdoor recreation guidance, it is clear that we can return to full contact footy, with some precautions in place.

We are required by the Province of Alberta to have a published return to play plan, and the club is working hard to have this completed as soon as possible. There will be a number of provisions for reducing the risk of transmission of Covid-19. One of these will be limiting our league for the foreseeable future to 50 players only, and we will only be playing against one another within Calgary as part of a mini-cohort.

The Government of Alberta has decreed that each individual should only be a member of one recreation mini-cohort. This effectively means that our members will currently be only able to play for the Roos, and won't be able to participate in any other club sport.

While the season structure is somewhat fluid, due to ever-changing regulations, the board is currently planning for two mini-seasons for the remainder of the year. Our summer cup will begin July 8 and run for five weeks, every Wednesday at AE Cross. Bears versus Cowboys games are back!

Members are invited to complete their club registration and pay their season dues. These have been reduced to $150 to reflect the shorter season. Members who volunteered at the 2020 casino event will be able to choose between a $50 refund this season, or carry their $100 refund over to 2021 dues. Click the link below to complete your registration. Our 2020 training singlets will be at training tonight, so make sure you pay your dues now so you can collect it!

Training

Training continues to be held on Wednesdays, with COVID-19 restrictions in place. On Canada Day, July 1, we will be holding a special training at 10am at AE Cross, followed by lunch and afternoon activities at Richmond's Pub. Make sure you wear red and white to show your love for the maple leaf! Our Canada Day session will also feature in our ongoing Summer Challenge fitness competition.

All participants must complete our online screening form within two hours of attending training or games. A new form must be completed before each session, and can be found at forms.gle/nE7dHyYM7DWeoeLK7

We're looking forward to getting back to some cracking footy with our Roos mates in the coming weeks!
